In addition to exploring my immediate family dynamics, I've become intrigued by a broader narrative concerning the transmission of trauma among women, both physically and emotionally. I have been working with found images and sorted them into collages to create a collective portrait of the feminine experience. Through the alternative process of cyanotype, I print on passed down fabrics and even my own pair of period underwear. Our bodies serve as vessels that hold trauma not only through our own experience but from the generations distant or close to us. The act of staining on intimate articles symbolize the ways in which women carry and discard past selves. Menstruating becomes not just a bodily function, but a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of women throughout history. We bleed, we discard, we carry on passing down our collective pain and strength to the next generation.
